Lilah's 1st trip to the zoo

In early January, the three of us joined the Patrick family for Lilah's first trip to the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary. The weather the entire week had been great, especially the day before our zoo trip. But...the weather changed and we got caught up in what felt like a wind storm! Even though the sun was out, the wind made the day feel much more chilly than we were expecting. I know the weather affected Lilah's ability to enjoy the zoo, since she seemed to want to cuddle with us most of the time. But later in the morning, she showed more interest in the animals.
Lilah toddled around as well as she could considering there are several ramps, inclines and declines around the zoo. We had fun watching Kai get very excited over each animal. Kai has been to this zoo several times, including my trip with him in October 2010, when I was 7 months pregnant with Lilah. Even with the crummy weather, I think the kids had a good time at the zoo. They had an even better time once we all hopped on the train and went for a fun ride! Then we ate lunch in the park next door to the zoo. We could tell that Lilah was pretty wind-blown, so we headed home after that. I look forward to taking Lilah back to the zoo when she's a little bit older and the weather is much nicer!
