On Thursday, Sept 6th, we celebrated Kai's 3rd birthday! That also happens to be my little brother's birthday, and Edward's cousin Stephen's birthday. A popular birth date! Lilah and I made cupcakes and prepped the house for the Patrick family's arrival in the afternoon on Kai's birthday. The Patrick family started their morning at the train museum in Old Sac. The boys had a great time there! Once they arrived here, we had Kai start opening presents pretty quickly. He had been patient all day but was ready to go by the time he arrived at our house! Kai received some great gifts and was of course more excited by the new toys than the new clothes. Typical of any 3-year old! Lilah had fun watching Kai open the gifts and she would peek into the boxes as he opened them to see what was in there. Carson was more interested in crawling around and investigating his new surroundings.
After the gift opening, we headed into the kitchen for some birthday cupcakes. We sang to Kai and he blew out his candles, and then we passed out the cupcakes. Kai and Carson devoured their cupcakes. Lilah had no interest in her cupcake. This did not surprise me at all. She's a very picky eater, and she has not been exposed to cake/cupcakes since her own birthday 8 months ago. But she had fun wearing a birthday cone hat along with her cousins! After the birthday dessert, we all went upstairs and ended up playing with the kids in the loft for awhile. Kai and Lilah had a lot of fun running around and jumping on Uncle Shaun!
Ever since Kai's birthday, Lilah loves to watch the video I recorded of Kai blowing out his birthday candles while we sang to him. She will watch it 20 times in a row and then want to watch it more! And ever since Kai's party, Lilah will say, "Kai, happy...to, blow, candle." Lilah tries to sing the birthday song but can only get a couple of the words out. She loves it though!
Lilah looks sooooo adorable! And so much like a little girl, not my baby. : (
My happy girl!
Checking out Kai's presents.
Playing with Uncle Shaun.
Gift time for Kai!
Kai was ready to open the gifts from us.
Someone is happy with his new toy!
Wow, look at that mess!
She's so cute.
"Auntie, I think you should relocate this."
Chewy babe!
Lilah and Kai were playing with Kai's new toy from us.
Carson was practicing his walking! He's so close!
Even though Lilah has a 7 month lead on her cousin Carson (and a couple inch height advantage), the two kids are only about 1 lb apart in weight!
Happy Birthday to Kai!
Adorable cone heads!!
Group cone head action.
Cute but messy-faced Carson!
And then there's Shaun!
