Chrindy's cabin, June 2012

At the end of June we very excitedly headed up to Chrindy's cabin for a fun weekend in the fresh air. We had not been there since last September when Lilah was only 9 months old. And she was a teething, vomity mess last time! She was also a crawler last time whereas now she is a walker and a runner! We packed up what felt like the entire house and then met Cindy and Chris at the cabin in time for dinner. I had sat in the back seat with Lilah on the way up, mainly to make sure she stayed awake. We didn't want her napping too late in the day which would then throw off her bedtime. I think it was the combination of the windy roads, and me reading a magazine while riding in the back seat that gave me my first ever experience with motion sickness. Nothing bad happened other than some annoying nausea. But I have a stomach of steel and have never ever even remotely had to deal with motion sickness before. I think being pregnant also must have aggravated the situation. So now I try to avoid riding in the back seat if possible on long trips, especially when windy roads are involved.

Lilah woke up way too early both mornings we were there! So Edward and I took turns chaperoning her as she wandered around outside the cabin, exploring the front and back yards. That allowed everyone else in the cabin to sleep in a bit longer. Lilah loved climbing on tree stumps; playing with the dirt, pine cones, and sticks; and trying to outrun us! We all piled in the car on that Saturday and drove into South Lake Tahoe where we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at Pope Beach. Thankfully it wasn't terribly crowded considering it was the weekend before the 4th of July. Lilah spent a good 30 minutes just sitting on a beach blanket playing in the sand with her shovel and buckets. She LOVED it! Later I took her to the water's edge and she played in the wet sand and let some of the water graze her toes as it came in off the lake. Lilah is so great when it comes to experiencing new places. She's typically not very afraid and she'll just go with the flow. We had a lot of fun that afternoon and we got some great pictures too! The 4 of us adults enjoyed some card games in the later evening once Lilah was asleep. I always love playing games at the cabin!

On Sunday we took Lilah down to the river for some more play time. The cabin is located along the American River and it's not too hard to access. Lilah enjoyed more water and sand/mud fun with Daddy while Cindy, Chris and I waded into the river to explore and take photos. Edward and Lilah later joined us in the river and we snapped more photos. Lilah enjoyed wading and stepping over the rocks with our help. After that we packed up and headed home. We always enjoy our time at the cabin and we look forward to returning again, hopefully soon!
