24 weeks today

Today marks 24 weeks through the pregnancy! Whoo-hoo! And only 14 more weeks to go. Oh boy. Still so much time remaining until my little Christmas baby is in my arms. I love feeling this little one kick me throughout the day! Can't wait until I can count all those little toes and kiss them!

Last weekend was Labor Day weekend, and we were very busy! On the go all over the Bay and then back up here to Sacramento. On Saturday we went with our friends Meghan and Mark to the football game in Berkeley. UC Davis was playing Cal Berkeley, and it was the season opener. Since all 4 of us are UCD grads, we had to go and represent! We weren't expecting much of a game considering Cal is Pac 10 and UCD isn't even close to that. Needless to say, it was kind of a blow out. But we still had a great time with our friends at the game!

Kickoff!

On our drive home from the game, we came across this intersection with a very special name.

On Sunday we celebrated Kai's 1st birthday! His actual birthday was yesterday, 9/6. He shares that birthday with his uncle Jacob, my brother. We had stayed with Edward's parents the night before Kai's birthday picnic. So we headed over to Concord from Brentwood, and on the way we stopped to pick up Grandma at church. We got her buckled into the car just fine, but then when I went to start my car...no go. The battery was dead. Thankfully, we were prepared! My mechanic put me on notice that my battery was only marginal, and that it would probably go in the next 6-12 months, if not sooner. So we made sure I had jumper cables in my car in case something happened. I suppose we could have just purchased a new battery proactively. But to us, batteries are one of those things you don't replace until they die. Especially since I had jumper cables with me and we are AAA members! So we figured it was the battery. I called Shaun, who was already at the park. He dispatched Glen (Mom's husband) to come on over to the church and rescue us. Luckily, the park is only about 5-10 minutes from Gram's church. So Glen got to us within 10 minutes or so and within 2 minutes, he jumped us, and my car was off and running again!
After we finally made it to the park, we really enjoyed the picnic. It was pretty toasty outside, but not too bad if you can find the shade. We had a great time, and Kai did too! Poor little guy, he didn't really get a nap with all the excitement, so he was pretty tired by the time cake and presents came around. Kai was also recovering from a fever/virus, so he was still a little fatigued from that too. It was great to visit with everyone at the picnic. Fun day!

Yummy chocolate cake!

Time to blow out the candle!
